Wireless network

With the spread of mobility we experience more and more often that we can connect to our working or domestic networks with a new tool. Connection may be realised with cables, but the state-of-the-art mobile tools can explore their environment and establish radio connection with the base stations they detect. All this assumes communication that is based on standards that are independent of manufacturers. Nowadays mainly Wi-Fi tools are used for radio options.

Wi-Fi tools are network tools with which we can realise radio data transfer connection. These tools work between the 2400 Mhz and 5000 Mhz frequencies, with a few times 10mW of transmitter power.

The coverage of a radio network, that is, the space covered by an Access Point (AP) depends greatly on the physical parameters of the environment. Radio waves can permeate through walls, but physical objects cause damping that means the weakening of the signal necessary for communication. The precise definition of the covered area is necessary for the provision of the appropriate bandwidth, for which a previous mechanic test is recommended. If the area is too big, more than one AP can be used; in such cases the roaming between APs is automatically provided if the tools are adjusted correctly.
