The professional security of IT systems and data is essential in the operations of a company. Besides physical protection, the most important concerns are virus protection and the protection against spamming and data fishing.

• Detection based on virus samples; heuristic search engine (for the detection of so far unknown viruses).
• Low demand of system resources.
• Exchange support; scanning of not only incoming e-mails, but also of mails stored on the server.

Spamming causes more and more trouble in work because their manual filtering and deletion takes a lot of time. According to industrial estimations, spams now constitute 20% of all electronic mails. So far there is no method that gives 100% protection against them, but there are several methods that can decrease the number of spams dramatically.

We require a spam filter application to give central protection, that is, it doesn’t have to be installed on every workstation, and to have an easy-to-use administration interface.

The support of multiple filtering methods is also necessary; they can be combined to achieve a higher level of protection. The important filtering methods used nowadays: Bayesian, DNS Blacklist, Sender policy framework, Keyword checking, Header checking, etc.

Nowadays the Bayesian analysis is the most powerful, mathematics-based filtering method that can adapt to the unique demands of the system. It ensures the constant supervision of mails and modifies its own filtering settings when necessary. The automatic database update enables the detection of the newest spamming methods.
